Robin
Pope Safaris
South Luangwa
National Park
The Photographic and Walking Safari Specialists in South Luangwa,
Zambia.
The South Luangwa .... and I see a wide,
open valley with the broad river snaking through, ox bow lagoons,
ancient ebony trees, the dust rising from the hooves of a thousand
buffalo, an elephant's trunk tasting the air. I see a pied
kingfisher hovering, the balanced flight of the bataleur eagle, or a
bushbuck delicately picking its way through the undergrowth.
I can hear the hippos’ grunts and roars echoing up and down the Valley
– a Valley that has been my home for nearly thirty years.” Robin
Pope.

Robin and Jo have one of the oldest safari companies in Zambia.
They are known throughout the world for running safaris that have
remained true to the original style – safaris with heart and
simplicity.
We have three small and intimate safari camps – Nkwali, Tena Tena and
Nsefu – all on the banks of the Luangwa River and with sweeping
views. The camps are comfortable, natural and understated, and all
very different in style.
Each camp is located next to a water hole
that attracts game throughout the day. In addition, a mobile camp
supports our walking safaris.
We have a fun and friendly atmosphere and a team who love the bush.
Tena
Tena is a luxurious tented camp
under a shady mahogany grove in the northern section run by Robin
Pope, a well-known safari expert. (June to October).
The
Popes also own the picturesque
Nkwali
Camp
further south, which boasts the 'best bar in the Valley.' (April to
December)
and
Nsefu,
the oldest camp with a spectacular view across the Luangwa River.
