Flatdogs Camp

Flatdogs is designed for the traveler on a smaller budget, but it is also ideally suited for families as it is one of the only camps that has gone out of its way to cater for children.

The main complex incorporates:
Restaurant
Serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks throughout the day. Flatdogs are able to cater for up to 60 diners so that overland trucks can book in as a group for meals. The menu is international with a la carte, daily specials, snacks and group meals on request.

Bar
An airy open plan bar will be the main meeting place for guests, with plenty of cold drinks and good music.

Games Room
For those who have missed the Local Pub on their travels, a chance to shoot some pool, play darts or catch up with the news on CNN or the BBC.

Shop
For crafts, clothes, fabrics and a limited supply of camping basics, including toiletries and foodstuffs.

Swimming Pool
To discourage guests from joining the crocodiles in the river, in the heat of the day.

Camping
The campsite for the overland trucks is approximately 150 meters of shade trees, 40 meters back from the riverbank. For campers in their own vehicles, and backpackers, an adjacent area equally shaded and close to the river is set aside. Both sites are provided with BBQ and washing up stands; with borehole water, lights and mains electric points.(220v UK square pin sockets!) The ablution block with 8 hot showers/ 8 flush toilets, sinks and laundry facilities serves the campsites and will, over time be supplemented with additional WC's dotted around at strategic points!  Firewood and laundry services are available.

Chalets
In order to provide top quality facilities at a budget price Flatdogs have come up with some interesting design concepts for their new chalets.
Having learned that a twin room is less than ideal for most family groups Flatdogs have designed the chalets as a double unit of two spacious furnished rooms with a communal kitchen and en suite bathroom. Each room has a private veranda/ dining area.

The Chalets have a downstairs room with a double bed plus a couch/single. The upstairs rooms with a their thatched roof and view of the river each have two single beds plus a couch/single. Spacious enough to cater for two couples or a family group comfortably, but cozy enough for a couple alone.

The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering groups who wish to cook their own food and each chalet has a stove and refrigerator. If you bring vast quantities of supplies there is a 20 foot (-40C) cold room to store your frozen goods.

In addition to the three double chalets there is a Family House with three rooms, comprising a total of eight single beds. These have a shared bathroom and fully equipped kitchen en suite.

All the rooms are provided with linen, soap and toilet paper and our chalet girls will keep them spick and span. Laundry services and firewood are available. The camp is on mains electricity and there is a standby generator for emergencies.

All bedrooms are screened and fumigated regularly so mosquito nets are not provided but staff will gladly help you hang your own if you wish to use one. (Recommended from November to May)
